I recently found out that Walgreens and Express Scripts have parted ways.  For the past year, Walgreens has negotiated with Express Scripts to continue to be the pharmacy’s provider network.  The negotiations were unsuccessful and the contract expired.  As a result, Walgreens is no longer part of the Express Scripts network as of January 1, 2012.  This means that all Walgreens pharmacies and Duane Reade pharmacies in the New York City area are no longer included in the Express Scripts pharmacy network. 

This situation forces many pharmacy customers to go elsewhere to use their in-network pharmacy benefits for their meds.  This change of network coverage reportedly causes disruption to a lot of people, not to mention the hassle they have to go through when getting prescriptions filled at pharmacies with less convenient hours or location. 

One of Express Scripts’ clients in particular that is affected by the split is Tricare, the health prescription drug program for the US military.  In an effort to support our troops, Walgreens took the unprecedented step of offering Express Scripts guaranteed prices that would match or beat the average costs per adjusted prescription of all other pharmacies in the Tricare network.  This was done in an attempt to prevent the military personnel from being caught in the middle.  Both of these proposals were rejected by Express Scripts.

My cousin’s daughter recently graduated from a cosmetology school. Even though I don’t know much about her school, she always wants the best so it is probably the best school in their area. I haven’t talked to her personally but from looking at her pictures it seems that she has learned a lot about how to apply cosmetics. I saw her in class doing make overs on mannequins and she did a really exceptional job. She is very good in combining make-up colors and in hairstyling. I would like to learn about the basic fundamentals of cosmetics myself. I want to learn how to put make-up on and do hairstyling.

When my hubby has had problems with his teeth in the past, he has had trouble trying to Find a dentist that would take him in quickly. A few years ago, he had a bad recurring toothache and it took him a really long time to find a dentist that would get him in quickly. When he finally did find one, we were very satisfied with the service and charges. The dentist was working from a small office in an older building in a downtown location.

Recently, my hubby has had a front tooth split and crack and he wanted to go in to find out how much it would cost to get it fixed. He is not in pain so it was not urgent but when he contacted the dentist’s office, he found that they had moved to a fancy new building near the airport. He asked how much it would cost to get the tooth fixed but this time they wanted to charge more than double the amount of the last procedure for just giving him a check up. It seems like they want us to pay for their new building. I think we will just wait until we go back to the Philippines to get our cosmetic dental problems fixed. I have a friend there who is a dentist and she will do the work for a small fraction of the amount that dentist charge here for the same procedures.

I have been trying to lose weight for quite sometime now. I arrived here in the US five years ago at 4’10 and 82 lbs. Since then I have been struggling to keep my weight down. At one point recently I was all the way up to 110 lbs. My belly was starting to hang over my pants and it was becoming quite embarrassing. My hubby said that he did not mind but I felt that I really needed to find a way to lose some weight. I had tried several diet plans but none worked for me. The last straw was when I went home to the Philippines this last spring and everybody there thought that I must be pregnant.

My hubby said that my weight gain was just a normal sign of aging. Since I just turned thirty, I was not ready to concede that. I had been thinking about trying some diet pills when I heard about the Zumba exercise program. Since I started my regular exercise a couple of months ago, I have lost fourteen pounds and actually have had a lot of fun doing it. My hubby even enjoys watching me do the sexy moves that are incorporated into the dance routine. He says that exercise will work for some people for a while but sooner or later, the natural aging process catches up with all of us. He said that exercise quit working for him when he got into his 40s. I will worry about that when the time comes.

It has been almost two weeks now since the last time I did zumba. I have been very occupied these past few days and did not have time to exercise. I am planning to get back though on my exercise routine soon. Fortunately, over that span of time, I have not gained any weight, despite pigging out. It feels good to exercise regularly. I am looking forward to building some muscles in my stomach area. I know it will be difficult but I will give it a try. My hubby likes that idea. He says that if I can flatten my tummy without losing meat from my butt, that would be great .
