Coconut Wine

coconutI guess this can only be found in the Philippines.  One morning I was walking around the neighborhood and saw someone getting coconut wine directly from a coconut tree.  Coconut wine is made while the coconut is still on the tree by cutting the coconut and extracting the juice.  Coconut wine tastes good and is a very inexpensive kind of wine as I am aware of.  I bought a gallon of it for forty pesos or less than a dollar.  I was not planning on drinking it but using it to make vinegar.

Coconut wine will turn into vinegar if you set it under the sun for a few days. The wine was sour because of the bad weather conditions.  My mother was running out of vinegar, that was the main reason I bought a gallon.

Two in One Party

Tomorrow is my mother’s birthday. We are going to have a birthday and going away party (for me), two in one, at home. We are going to roast a pig. My cousins are going to help my mother to cook bihon, sweetend rice and a few more other recipes. The party will be celebrated with relatives and close friends. Happy birthday, Ma. I wish you all the best in life has to offer.

Happy Birthday, Brother!

Today one of my younger brothers is celebrating his birthday. I called Bong to wish him a happy birthday before I went to bed last night. My family was having a small get together with relatives and his close friends. When I called him, he was at the fish port to buy fish to grill while my mother was picking some mangoes in the front yard and was planning to cook some rice noodles, probably with chicken in it. Not a fancy celebration but the food sounds really good to me.
